What is the Lightning Network?
The Lightning Network is a “Layer 2” payment protocol that operates on top of the Bitcoin blockchain. It is designed to enable fast transactions among participating nodes and has been touted as a solution to the Bitcoin scalability problem.
What is a Lightning Address and how do I get one?
A Lightning Address is a unique identifier that allows individuals to send and receive Bitcoin payments through the Lightning Network using their email address. It simplifies transactions by replacing complicated Bitcoin addresses with a format that’s as simple to use as sending an Email.
To get a Lightning Address, you can create an account with one of the apps or services that support Lightning Addresses like Swapee, Wallet of Satoshi, GetAlby and many more, which will handle all the infrastructure similar to how an email server such as Gmail works for your Emails.
My wallet doesn’t support Lightning Addresses, can I still get a custom one?
Long story short: No. Our service works for custodian wallets only. Please make sure to never store a fortune worth of Bitcoin on such a wallet.
Will my old address still be valid?
Yes. Your new and old Lightning Addresses are interchangable and can both be used to receive payments.
Does orangepilled.email have access to my funds?
No, we will never have access to your funds. We will install a redirect to your old address. This is comparable to call forwarding when making a phone call. We will never ask you for your seed phrase or login data.
Can I pay with FIAT currencies for my subscription plan?
Unfortunately no. We’ve chosen to accept Bitcoin as our exclusive method of payment because of its unique advantages. Bitcoin transactions are fast, secure, and can be made from anywhere in the world without the need for traditional banking systems. Moreover, Bitcoin aligns with our commitment to privacy and decentralization.
How many addresses can I register?
We’re offering different subscription plans that include different amount of orangepilled addresses. The yearly subscription plans (Visionary (1), Revolutionary (3)) come with 1 or 3 addresses, Lightning Unlimited comes with 5 customizable addresses.
Can I change my subscription plan later?
No, unfortunately this is not an option for the moment. We are already working on it to make this possible in the forseen future.
How do I setup my new Lightning Address?
Once you paid for your subscription plan you can setup your new Lightning Address under “Manage Subscription“. You will have to enter your new desired address and your wallet address that you want to redirect payments to.
What happens when my subscription plan ends?
You will have to manually opt-in and pay for its renewal. When your subscription expires your addresses will immediately become inactive. You will have the opportunity to renew it under Subscription Management 30 days in advance to its expiry. Lightning Unlimited subscription has no expiry.
